Hello!
Welcome to "Foolish Trader" - Where Likely Bad Financial Decisions Meet (Maybe?) Good Documentation.
Let's get one thing straight: I'm not a financial advisor. I'm not even particularly good with money. What I am is someone with enough audacity to think I can outsmart the market, armed with just enough knowledge to be dangerous to my own wallet.
This blog chronicles my journey through the treacherous waters of options trading and stock picking, where I'll document my attempts to turn conventional wisdom on its head – or more likely, watch my portfolio do the same.
What You'll Find Here
You'll get front-row seats to watch me navigate the market with the confidence of a seasoned pro and the actual expertise of a toddler with a calculator. I'll share:
- My real trades, in near-real-time (because nothing says "commitment" like publicly documenting your mistakes)
- The supposedly rational thinking behind each decision (spoiler: hindsight will probably prove me wrong)
- The brutal truth about my wins and losses (mostly losses? let's be honest)
Why The Foolish Trader Exists
We've all heard the sage advice: "Invest in index funds," "Don't try to time the market," "Leave it to the professionals." But where's the fun in that? The Foolish Trader exists as a monument to the human conviction that we can do better, even when all evidence points to the contrary.
Think of this as an anthropological study of financial hubris. I'm the test subject, and you're the audience watching the experiment unfold.
A Word of Warning
If you're looking for financial advice, you're in the wrong place. Seriously. The only thing you should learn from this blog is what NOT to do with your money. Consider this less of a "how-to" guide and more of a "watch-this-train-wreck" documentary.
And if for some reason, you see the portfolio in green, remember that I am someone with no financial background. So it is probably more a case of a monkey getting a dart right than a sound decision that will stand the test of time.
What's Next
Follow along as I document my journey from having a decent savings account to convincing myself that I understand what "theta decay" really means. I'll be posting my trades, my reasoning, and the inevitable aftermath.
Remember: This isn't financial advice. This is financial entertainment – the kind where you get to watch someone else make the mistakes you've hopefully been smart enough to avoid.
I do have one goal though, I do want to play this game for the next decade. So I will try to preserve some capital via some self-imposed constraints I will be sharing in future, and then if I still lose it all, bring in cash from my additional savings.
Welcome to The Foolish Trader. Let's lose money together.
